TSA Pre✓™ PRE-CHECK, allows select frequent flyers of participating airlines
to receive expedited screening benefits during domestic travel.

Eligible participants use dedicated screening lanes for screening benefits which include leaving on shoes, light outerwear and belts, as well as leaving laptops and 3-1-1 compliant liquids in carry-on bags.

If you are a frequent domestic airline flyer, then you may qualify for expedited security line processing, Please APPLY HERE at the Global Entry Website.

For a listing of airports and terminals included for Pre-Check, please download the TSA Pre✓™ location chart HERE. (pdf file)

TSA Pre✓™ is a pre-screening initiative that makes risk assessments on passengers who voluntarily participate prior to their arrival at the airport checkpoint.

TSA Pre✓™ includes U.S. citizens who are members of existing Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler programs including Global Entry, NEXUS, and SENTRI programs as well as eligible airline frequent travelers.

If TSA determines a passenger is eligible for expedited screening, information is embedded in the barcode of the passenger’s boarding pass. TSA reads the barcode at designated checkpoints and the passenger may be referred to a lane where they will undergo expedited screening, which could include no longer removing the following items:

Shoes
3-1-1 compliant bag from carry-on
Laptop from bag
Light outerwear/jacket
Belt

In addition, passengers 12 and younger are allowed through TSA Pre✓™ lanes with eligible passengers.

TSA will always incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.

TSA Pre✓™ is an expedited screening initiative that is expanding to airports across the country. Implementing a key component of the agency’s intelligence-driven, risk-based approach to security, TSA Pre✓™ enhances aviation security by placing more focus on pre-screening individuals who volunteer to participate to expedite the travel experience.

TSA is partnering with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as well as U.S. air carriers as part of this initiative. Certain frequent travelers from Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, US Airways and certain members of CBP's Trusted Traveler programs, including Global Entry, SENTRI, and NEXUS who are U.S. citizens are eligible to participate. In addition, passengers 12 and younger are allowed through TSA Pre✓™ lanes with eligible passengers.

TSA Pre✓™ is currently available for eligible passengers flying on participating airlines.

TSA plans to expand TSA Pre✓™ for eligible passengers flying on participating airlines at the following airport locations:

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU)
San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC)
John Wayne Airprt (SNA)

TSA plans to continue expanding the TSA Pre✓™ concept to include additional airlines, as well as airports that participate in CBP’s Global Entry program, once operationally ready.

TSA will always incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening in order to retain a certain element of randomness to prevent terrorists from gaming the system. In addition, individuals who commit certain offenses, such as violations involving firearms, explosives, and fraudulent documents at an airport or on board an aircraft are likely to be denied expedited screening for a period of time. The duration of disqualification for expedited screening will depend upon the seriousness of the offense.

Airport security checkpoints are only one part of a multi-layered system for aviation security. Other parts, both seen and unseen by the public, include intelligence gathering and analysis, behavior detection officers, explosives detection canine teams, federal air marshals, and closed-circuit television monitoring.

TSA Pre✓™ allows officers to better focus their efforts on other passengers who are more likely to pose a risk to transportation. TSA continues to analyze the best approaches to security.

TSA Pre ✓™: Participation

Certain frequent travelers from Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, US Airways and certain members of CBP's Trusted Traveler programs, including Global Entry, SENTRI, and NEXUS who are U.S. citizens are eligible to participate. TSA plans to expand TSA Pre✓™ to include additional airlines, as well as airports that participate in a CBP Trusted Traveler program, once operationally ready. In addition, accompanying passengers 12 and younger are allowed through TSA Pre✓™ lanes with eligible passengers.

Interested passengers who are not eligible through their airline and are not already a member of a CBP Trusted Traveler program may still be able to opt into TSA Pre✓™ by applying for one of CBP’s eligible programs.

Who is Eligible?

Airline Frequent Travelers
Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and US Airways are contacting eligible frequent travelers with an invitation to opt-in. Once the passenger opts-in, the airline identifies the individual as a TSA Pre✓™ participant when submitting passenger reservation information to TSA’s Secure Flight system.

If a participating airlines’ frequent traveler did not receive an invitation from the airline, he/she can still participate by joining a CBP Trusted Traveler program. See below for more details.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Trusted Travelers
U.S. citizens currently enrolled in CBP’s Global Entry, SENTRI or NEXUS Trusted Traveler programs are automatically eligible to participate in TSA Pre✓™.

Trusted Traveler participants will need to enter their CBP-assigned PASS ID number – located in their account online or on the top left-hand corner of their membership card – in the 'Known Traveler Number’ field when booking travel reservations. Additionally, CBP Trusted Traveler participants can add their PASS ID number to their airline member profile to have the number automatically sent to TSA when booking reservations.

Note: It is not necessary for CBP participants to opt-in through both CBP and a participating airline. Members are automatically eligible to participate by virtue of their enrollment in the CBP qualifying program.

How to Participate

Individuals who apply and are cleared for enrollment in one of CBP’s eligible Trusted Traveler programs, are automatically qualified to participate in TSA Pre✓™ when flying a participating airline at a participating airport.

Here are the basic steps for applying:
Before a traveler can apply for a Trusted Traveler program, they must first register for a CBP Global Online Enrollment System (GOES) account.

Once registered in GOES, the traveler can move forward with the enrollment in one of the CBP eligible programs. The GOES system will provide a PASS ID number after the enrollment in a Trusted Traveler program.

Once a passenger has signed up for a Trusted Traveler program, he/she must provide their PASS ID number, associated with the Trusted Traveler account in the “Known Traveler Number’ field when booking travel. The passenger’s Trusted Traveler information will be submitted along with reservation information to TSA’s Secure Flight system. Trusted Traveler program members should also remember to enter their full name, date of birth, and PASS ID exactly as it appears on their membership card.
